Online Dating Los Angeles
We take Jewish traditions you’ve never heard of and organize edgy and engaging programming and events at unlikely neighborhood venues. We are creatives and seekers captivated by the magic of real connections and avant-garde takes on ancient traditions. Our mission is to curate mindful and meaningful spaces and activities for young adults to interact and explore Jewish heritage through a cultural and reflective lens. We value community over convention. Our unorthodox events are warm and welcoming, and are designed to strike a balance between rich, thought provoking content, uncontrollable laughter, and (perhaps most important) yummy eats (we are Jews, after all…). If you’re looking to join a temple, we’re probably not for you. But if you’re looking to meet cool people and can handle a sardonic sense of humor, come join us!

A Message from the East Side Jews Activist Collective:
Dear SIJCC & East Side Jews Community,
By now all of you have seen the news: mass protests against police brutality and racial inequality in roughly 30 major cities. Following the abhorrent and unjust deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and now the murder of George Floyd on May 25th, a national uprising has ensued. Whether we find ourselves isolated at home, or swarming to the streets, this moment has engulfed us all.
The targeting and killing of black and brown people is nothing new in our country, and neither is rebellion against the status quo. In this moment, the dominating narrative from politicians and the media condemns anger and protest while speaking very little to the police instigation escalating them, and the circumstances of inequality that led us here. Prioritizing property and tranquility over black and brown lives is not in line with our Jewish values or moral standards. Conversations around “looting” distract from the main issue of systemic violence and racism, which includes endless injustices near and far. In LA, our local government’s response has been to set curfews and call in the National Guard. Historically, these types of solutions have been known to exacerbate racial violence.
In 1967, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “I think America must see that riots do not develop out of thin air. Certain conditions continue to exist in our society which must be condemned as vigorously as we condemn riots.”
Time and again people must fight the system that oppresses them, it is the essence of tikkun olam, repairing the world. In this moment we must respect and listen to those on the front lines of civil rights struggles. They deserve to be the vanguard of their own liberation. Therefore, East Side Jews Activist Collective fully supports Black Lives Matter Los Angeles, and their demands:
Prosecute Killer Cops. There have been 601 deaths caused by police officers in the city of Los Angeles. District Attorney Jackie Lacey has prosecuted none. This must change.
Defund The Police. We must reimagine community safety. This means investing in and prioritizing care over carceral punishment, and emphasizing universal aid and crisis management over punitive solutions. In LA, 54% of our city’s proposed 2020-21 budget goes towards policing, whereas it could be directed towards housing for all, providing mental and physical healthcare for those in need, creating free and quality public transit, and feeding many citizens currently going hungry.
In Pirkei Avot we are taught that 'it is not your responsibility to finish the work of perfecting the world, but you are not free to desist from it either.' As Jews, we hold a unique and vested interest in fighting for the collective liberation of all oppressed peoples. None of us are free until all of us are free.
Now is the time to educate ourselves and our families.
Now is the time to fund justice and bail efforts in our city and nationwide.
Now is the time to fight for black lives.
The work is here.
