Senior Data Management Assistant
Organizational Setting and Work Relationships
The Senior Data Management Assistant shall report to the Registration Officer. S/he shall be responsible for data management activities within the UNHCR Gambella¿s Operation in close collaboration with Protection and Registration Staffs. The incumbent shall provide data management support to WFP/ ARRA monthly general Food Distribution through the provision of electronic mnifest generated from proGres V4. S/he shall support the different sections of UNHCR with data and statistics required for protection intervention and programming of assistance. Similar support shall be provided to implementing and operational partners as well as headquarters. The incumbent shall monitor servers and devices during data synchronization to mitigate data loss. S/he shall assist with data clean-up, data quality assessment, end users support and training in accordance with data protection protocol.
As a frontline worker in the field s/he shall collect data from Persons of concern through in person interviews, therefore the incumbent must have good communication and inter-personal skills.
Duties
– Enter data mainly related to asylum seekers, refugees and other persons of concern to UNHCR into the computer database.
– Prepare reports and project documents by providing information, preparing tables and drafting routine correspondence and reports.
– Assist in compilation of data and interpreting the statistics for various reports.
– Assist in the development of forms for data collection and analysis, if requested.
– Act as interpreter in the exchange of routine information and translate routine documents and correspondence as and when required.
– May be required to collect GIS data, update maps and undertake field trips to project sites.
– Decide on the data recorded in database.
– Decide on appropriate resolution to incidents and escalate issues to the supervisor if incident cannot be resolved within the scope of responsibility.
– Perform other related duties as required.
